The Troy Resilience Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families in need, hosted a free clothing giveaway on June 11, providing donated summer clothes, shoes and essential items to local families.
This event is part of their ongoing monthly outreach to connect the community with vital resources.
“We try to do this once a month,” said Family Support Specialist Savannah Williams. “It helps people get the things they need. We bring all of our donations, from clothes and shoes out of the house and into the hands of families.”
The Troy Resilience Project is a project that emphasizes preventing child abuse and neglect, while also supporting families through trauma-informed care, education, and early intervention.
“We work alongside the Alabama Network of Family Resource Centers and the Children’s Trust Fund of Alabama on these cases and several local agencies in Troy, including Troy City and Pike County Schools,” said Williams. “We collaborate with many statewide and local partnerships to provide the adequate resources to help out the residents within the community.”
Beyond clothing drives, the organization also offers workforce development, parenting education and mental health services.
“We’re here to check on our people,” Williams said. “Everything we do is about building stronger families and a stronger community.”
The Troy Resilience Project demonstrates that even small acts of generosity, like a donated jacket or a food bag, can create lasting change. Through the offering of partnerships with various family programs, they set out to prove resilience is built through community, connection and care.
