Harrison Camwell has recently completed the project part of his Eagle Scout Award with Troy’s Troop 41.
The project was installing sound panels in the Charles Henderson Middle School Band Room, as well as building and installing shelves for trophies. He fundraised more than $1,000 for this project at multiple restaurants.
“This project was a several-month journey involving planning, fundraising and finally, the installation of both shelving and sound panels,” Camwell said. “We were able to raise a total of $1,139, of which $932 went directly toward materials for the shelves and sound panels. The remaining $206 was donated to the band program.”
Camwell expressed “incredible gratefulness” for the generous support received from local businesses and organizations including, Zaxby’s, Hook’s BBQ, Fuse Coffee, The Corner, Phi Mu Alpha Sinonia, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and Tau Beta Sigma.
“I would also like to thank Joseph Austin, Carl Knight, Paul Camwell, Margaret Camwell, Doc Kirby, Carlton Copeland and Hollis Jackson for their generous donations toward the project,” Camwell said. “Giving back to the band program, an organization that has played such a significant role in shaping who I am, has been a deeply fulfilling experience. I’m honored to give back to the community in such a way.”
Camwell said he joined Scouts to grow as a leader and challenge himself.
“Becoming an Eagle Scout means a lot to me because it shows commitment, service and the ability to lead—a foundation I know will help me succeed as a future lawyer,” he said. “My plans are to study political science or history in college, then go to law school. I want to become a lawyer so I can stand up for others, fight for justice, and make a real impact in people’s lives.”
