A man has been charged with breaking into Dale’s Place and stealing beer and food.
According to Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas, Jalen Cory Manning has been charged with third-degree burglary.
Thomas said around 3:40 a.m. on May 30, deputies responded to a report of a burglary at Dale’s Place on Pike County Road 2290. Thomas said when deputies arrived, they discovered the business’s front door had been shattered. The business owner said someone had broken into the store and tampered with the cash register. Thomas said the cash register only contained loose change and that food and beer had been stolen.
According to Thomas, deputies later located evidence from the store at a nearby area on Pike County Road 2261. Thomas said unopened beer and food wrappers were discovered at the CR2261 location.
Jalen Corey Manning then became a suspect in the investigation, according to Thomas. Body camera footage from May 29 indicated Manning had been stopped in the area of Little Oak Store in CR2290.
Thomas said over the next few days, deputies conducted an extensive search for Manning. On June 5, he was located in Lee County and was taken into custody and transported to the Pike County Jail on June 6.
“This case demonstrates the strong dedication of our deputies and their persistence in pursuing justice,” Thomas said. “Thanks to a quick response, solid evidence collection and public cooperation, we were able to apprehend the suspect and bring closure to the case.”
