- Dallas Cowboys running Derrick Foster, a Goshen native, will hold a free youth football camp on July 12.
Goshen native Derrick Foster, an NFL coach, is returning home this summer to host a free youth football camp in Goshen on July 12.
Foster was a star running back at Goshen High School and went on to play college football at Southwest Baptist in Missouri. He then went into a coaching career as a graduate assistant at Valdosta State and Tennessee.
After stints as an assistant coach at Northwestern State, Samford and Iowa, Foster made the jump to the NFL as the running backs coach with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2021. After three years there, he became the running backs coach with the New Orleans Saints last year and accepted the position as running backs coach with the Dallas Cowboys earlier this year.
Now, Foster will be giving back to his home community with a free youth camp, presented by his Derrick Foster Family Foundation. The event will be on July 12 at Eagle Stadium on the campus of Goshen High School with two different sessions.
Registration for the camp will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the first session will take place from 8:30 until 10 a.m. for ages five through eight. Session two will begin at 10:30 a.m. and go through 12:30 p.m. for ages nine through 15.
Campers will earn performance training from an NFL coach at the camp. There will be free giveaways at the camp, as well as lunch and T-Shirts for campers. To pre-register for the camp, visit https://tinyurl.com/y8mz82sz.
