Alabama gas prices fall slightly

The average gas price nationwide dropped slightly since last week, falling 2-cents to $3.12 per gallon. 

The $3.12 price point is a decrease of 2-cents per gallon from a month ago. Last year, at the same time, the national average for gas was $3.44 per gallon. This week’s average is 32-cents lower than last year’s average. 

In Alabama, the average price for regular gas remained well below the national average at $2.72 per gallon, which is down a penny from last week’s $2.73 average for the state. A year ago, Alabama’s average price per gallon was $3.11. That amounts to a 39-cent per gallon decline over the June 9, 2024, price. 

On Monday, GasBuddy.com reported prices in Troy ranging from a low of $2.75 to a high of $2.79. Prices in surrounding towns were: Ozark, $2.59 to $2.69; Luverne reported at $2.87, Union Springs reported at $2.79; Dothan ranged from $2.50 to $2.64; Montgomery ranged from $2.55 to $2.58.

Last  week, GasBuddy.com reported prices in Troy ranging from a low of $2.65 to a high of $2.85. Prices in surrounding towns were: Ozark, $2.59 to $2.69; Luverne had no reported prices, Union Springs reported at $2.89; Dothan ranged from $2.54 to $2.59; Montgomery ranged from $2.52 to $2.64.

Nationally, Alabama had one of the lowest averages in the nation with $2.72. Prices in contiguous states were: Mississippi, $2.62; Tennessee, $2.70; Georgia, $2.86 and Florida, $3.06.

The highest recorded average price per gallon for regular in Alabama was $4.63 on June 14, 2022.
