Pro wrestling will be live in Dale County on July 19 for XWX’s Super Slam 8 at the Ozark Civic Center.
XWX has run its Super Slam event in each of the past eight years and has been running wrestling events in Ozark since 2021. XWX will present seven matches at Super Slam 8 with all XWX Championships on the line, including Heavyweight Champion Silas Brown defending his title.
“One special thing we’ll have is I’m going to do the Cash in the Case,” XWX Promoter Daniel Grecco said. “It will be similar to (the WWE’s) Money In The Bank but will be awarded to one particular person that will be revealed towards the end of the night. That is going to be a game changer.”
Grecco, who has been involved with professional wrestling since 2002, said the wrestling business has been a love for him since he was a child.
“It was always something that intrigued me,” he continued. “Something that I always wanted to do. I’ve always wanted to entertain and it was a hobby that stuck with me, I could never let it go. I enjoy the atmosphere, the people and the fans and interacting with them. It’s something that has always been a part of me since I was 15 years old.”
While Grecco said that XWX will look to continue to build up their shows in Ozark, he hopes that the future sees the promotion heading out throughout the Wiregrass.
“We’re definitely looking at that in the future,” he said. “Right now, we want to build our base in Ozark. That’s why we do 3-4 events a year there. We want to give everything to Ozark and once we feel like we’ve built our fanbase, we would love to be able to go around the Wiregrass and give even more people shows and showcase what we do.”
Grecco pointed to the family-friendly environment of XWX’s events as being a selling point for wrestling fans in the Wiregrass.
“You can expect an action-packed show, full of suspense,” he said. “There will be great food at the concession stands and all the proceeds go to the local band boosters. So, you’re not only eating good but giving to a good cause. There will be high caliber matches and a family friendly environment. That’s the thing about XWX, there will be nothing you have to cover ‘Junior’s’ eyes or ears from. It’s family friendly excitement.”
XWX’s Super Slam 8 will be held on July 19 at 7 p.m. in the Ozark Civic Center. Front row tickets are $15 and $10 for general admission. Tickets for children, aged five to 12, are $7 and children under four get in free with an adult ticket.
“Get ready for some great wrestling, family fun and the top of the top action,” Grecco said.
