- Jaine Treadwell | The Messenger Pike County Kids’ Fishing Day, a Father’s Day weekend tradition, is set for Saturday, June 14, at Clay Hill Farms. The fishing and fun are free.
There’s an old saying that the best things in life are free.
So, grab a rod and reel or a cane pole and go fishing Saturday, June 14, at Clay Hill Farms in Pronto because the fishing and fun are free. And there are prizes to be won, including the biggest fish and the biggest stringer.
Officer Jerry Jinright, Pike County Conservation Enforcement Officer, said the day of fishing begins at 8 a.m. and the “poles in” signal is at 10:30p.m.
Pike County Kids’ Fishing Day is traditionally held the Saturday before Fathers’ Day. However, it’s a designated time for kids and someone special in their lives to “go fishing” together
All that is needed for a day of fishing at Clay Hill Farms is a hat, bait, rod and reel or cane pole and an ice chest for icing down the day’s catch.
Kids’ Fishing Day is an annual event sponsored by the Alabama Conservation Enforcement Association, Wal-Mart, Alabama, the Conservation Enforcement Officers Association, the Alabama and Freshwater Fisheries Division and Pike County TREASURE Forest.
