The Pike County Chamber of Commerce welcomed new Vice President Kaitlyn Williamson to the team on Monday.
Williamson is from Hazel Green, just north of Huntsville, and recently graduated from Troy University with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. Williamson said after graduation, she planned to stay in the area.
“The first time I drove through Troy I was on the way to the beach, it reminded me of my hometown of Hazel Green,” Williamson said. “Hazel Green is a small town and Troy is a small town. I grew up in a small town and I love small towns. Every time you go out, you see people you know. I really love that. When I first came to Troy [University], it felt like home. So, I really wanted to be a part of Pike County.”
Williamson said she was looking for a job in the area and became aware of an opening with the Pike County Chamber of Commerce. She said she interviewed with Chamber President Bethany Allen and was offered the job.
She said she was settling into her role as vice president this week, but would have a wide range of responsibilities.
Williamson will be responsible for producing the weekly newsletter, event creation, working with new members of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce, assisting existing members and working on the Leadership Pike and Junior Ambassador programs.
