Kids Fishing Day set for June 14

The month of June means the start of summer and the end of school, and, for many students, it’s “Halleluiah Time!”

Around Pike County, Alabama, the month of June is also, traditionally a time of fishing for kids!

For more years than can be remember or counted, Clay Hill Farms Kids, Fishing Day has invited kids to go fishing with their dads, a granddad, uncle or some other significant person in their lives a
“I don’t know how many kids and dads have participated in Pike County Kids Fishing Day over the years but it’s been many more than can be counted,” said Pike County Conservation Officer Jerry Jinright “And, we are looking forward to a great day of fishing on Saturday, June 14.”

Not only is Clay Hill Farms stocked with “good eating size’’ catfish, there are some whoppers waiting to come ashore.

Pike County Kids Fishing Day will begin at 8 a.m. with registration beginning at 7 a.m.

Kids that participate should bring a hat, bait, a fishing pole or rod and reel and an ice chest to carry their fish home for mom to fry for supper.

Pike County Kids Fishing Day at Clay Hill Farms is sponsored by Wal-Mart, Alabama. Conservation Enforcement Officers Association, the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater and Fisheries Division and Pike County TREASURE Forest.

Pike County Kids Fishing Day is hosted by Wal-Mart, the Alabama Conservation Enforcement Officers Association and the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division. The event is partially funded by the Federal Sport Fish Restoration Program.
