Alabama gas prices fall slightly

The average gas price nationwide dropped slightly since last week, falling 2-cents to $3.14 per gallon.
The $3.14 price point is a decrease of 4-cents per gallon from a month ago. Last year, at the same time, the national average for gas was $3.53 per gallon. This week’s average is 32-cents lower than last year’s average.
In Alabama, the average price for regular gas remained well below the national average at $2.73 per gallon, which was the same as last week’s $2.73 average for the state. A year ago, Alabama’s average price per gallon was $3.19. That amounts to a 46-cent per gallon decline over the June 2, 2024, price.
On Wednesday, GasBuddy.com reported prices in Troy ranging from a low of $2.63 to a high of $2.89. Prices in surrounding towns were: Ozark, $2.68 to $2.79; Luverne had no reported prices, Union Springs reported at $2.79; Dothan ranged from $2.50 to $2.64; Montgomery ranged from $2.52 to $2.64.
Last week, GasBuddy.com reported prices in Troy ranging from a low of $2.65 to a high of $2.85. Prices in surrounding towns were: Ozark, $2.64 to $2.70; Luverne had no reported prices, Union Springs reported at $2.79; Dothan ranged from $2.54 to $2.67; Montgomery ranged from $2.49 to $2.57.
Nationally, Alabama had one of the lowest averages in the nation with $2.73. Prices in contiguous states were: Mississippi, $2.64; Tennessee, $2.70; Georgia, $2.88 and Florida, $3.07.
The highest recorded average price per gallon for regular in Alabama was $4.63 on June 14, 2022.
