This week, the Sun Belt Conference announced a number of game times for televised football games for the 2025 season along with a big change to the Sun Belt Championship.
This year’s Sun Belt Football Championship will be played in primetime on a Friday, at 6 p.m. on Dec. 5 on ESPN. The game has traditionally aired on Saturdays.
“We are excited to kick off conference championship weekend with the Sun Belt Football Championship Game on Friday, Dec. 5,” Sun Belt Commission Keith Gill said. “With primetime billing on ESPN, we look forward to showcasing our East and West Division Champions, as they vie for a conference title and a potential berth into the College Football Playoff.”
The SBC Championship has featured at least one team that is ranked – or received votes – in both national polls. The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) will play it its football state championships beginning Dec. 5 in Birmingham, as well.
Additionally, the Sun Belt announced the game times and TV schedule for the first three weeks of the football season along with all mid-week game times and TV stations. Troy’s season opener at home against Nicholls will be played at 6 p.m. on Aug. 30 and will air on ESPN+. The week two matchup with the ACC’s Clemson, on the road, will be played at 2:30 p.m. on the ACC Network on Sept. 6.
The week three home game against Memphis on Sept. 13 will air nationally on ESPNU at 11 a.m. Also, Troy’s only mid-week contest of the season will be played Thursday, Nov. 13, at Old Dominion at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Game times and TV schedules for further football contests will be released as the season approaches.
