“Color Our World”: Summer Creativity Camps at Troy Public Library

Troy Public Library will be hosting various camps this summer. Embark on a vibrant journey this summer with Troy Public Library’s ‘Color Our World’ camps, where young minds are invited to explore their creativity through various interactive activities.
These camps are designed for children aged 4-5 and kids aged 6-11. Additionally, all of these camps are free to attend; however, registration can only be completed in person at the front desk of Troy Public Library. The last day to register for these camps will be May 31.
The Color Craze Tie-Dye Workshop will be held on Monday, June 9, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., and children will have the opportunity to dive into a vibrant world of tie-dye. Additionally, this workshop provides a perfect opportunity for children to create unique tie-dye T-Shirts with their hands. This event is designed for children 4 to 5.
Water Day will see slides and an obstacle course present at this event on Tuesday, June 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Furthermore, participants are recommended to bring a towel and to apply sunscreen. This event is designed for children ages 6 to 11.
Tails and Tales Workshop will be held on Monday, June 16, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. This event combines storytelling with animal-themed activities. This event is geared toward children ages 4 to 5.
Animal Tales Workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 17, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., allowing kids the opportunity to see exotic animals based out of a zoo from Pensacola, Fla. This event is designed for children ages 6 to 11.
Kate Deal, the children’s librarian for Troy Public Library, said that this zoo offers a wide array of animals each year.
“There were scorpions, bats, prairie dogs, and wolf puppies present over the past couple of years; just really anything exotic,” said Deal.
Paint the Rainbow Workshop will be held on Monday, June 23, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., as children will get to explore the world of painting through the creation of unique masterpieces. This session encourages children to express themselves through art, as paintings can bring imagination to life. This event is designed for children ages 4 to 5.
Tie-Dye Factory Workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 24, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. The Tie-Dye Factory Workshop will allow participants to design colorful, groovy t-shirts using various tie-dye techniques. In addition, instructors will guide the young artists through the process, ensuring a fun and educational experience. This event is designed for children ages six to 11.
Doc Magic Workshop will be held on Monday, June 30, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., and is designed for kids to explore the wonders of magic and storytelling. This event is designed for children ages four to five.
Slime Time Workshop will be held on Tuesday, July 1, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., and another session from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Slime Time workshop offers a hands-on experience where participants can mix, squish, and create their slime. Pre-registration is required for this fun and interactive session, with only limited availability. This event is designed for children ages six to 11.
Play-Doh Playdate Workshop will be held on Monday, July 7, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Playing with Play-Doh will allow children to develop fine motor skills. This event is designed for children ages four to five.
Paint Palooza Workshop will be held on Tuesday, July 8, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., and another session from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Paint Palooza is an exciting art party where participants can even explore various painting techniques. However, pre-registration is required for this event with only limited availability. This event is designed for children ages six to 11.
