Alabama gas prices remain stable

The average gas price nationwide remained fairly stable after the Memorial Day Weekend, falling 1-cent to $3.16 per gallon.
The $3.16 price point is an increase of 3-cents per gallon from a month ago. Last year, at the same time, the national average for gas was $3.58 per gallon. This week’s average is 42-cents lower than last year’s average.
In Alabama, the average price for regular gas remained well below the national average at $2.73 per gallon, which was the same as last Monday’s $2.73 average for the state. A year ago, Alabama’s average price per gallon was $3.20. That amounts to a 47-cent per gallon decline over the May 28, 2024, price.
On Wednesday, GasBuddy.com reported prices in Troy ranging from a low of $2.65 to a high of $2.85. Prices in surrounding towns were: Ozark, $2.64 to $2.70; Luverne had no reported prices, Union Springs reported at $2.79; Dothan ranged from $2.54 to $2.67; Montgomery ranged from $2.49 to $2.57.
Last Monday, GasBuddy.com reported prices in Troy ranging from a low of $2.64 to a high of $2.85. Prices in surrounding towns were: Ozark, $2.61 to $2.75; Luverne reported $2.85 to a high of $2.89, Union Springs reported at $2.79; Dothan ranged from $2.52 to $2.69; Montgomery ranged from $2.52 to $2.57.
Nationally, Alabama had one of the lowest averages in the nation with $2.73. Prices in contiguous states were: Mississippi, $2.65; Tennessee, $2.73; Georgia, $2.90 and Florida, $3.
The highest recorded average price per gallon for regular in Alabama was $4.63 on June 14, 2022.
