UPDATE: Troy PD arrests second suspect in North Knox Street Shooting

Troy Police Chief Danny Barron announced the arrest of Gavin L. Cogburn, the second suspect in the May 7 North Knox Street shooting in Troy.
According to Barron, Cogburn turned himself into police on May 21. The other suspect, Da’Quan Brantley, 20, turned himself in on May 16. Both are being held at the Pike County Jail on two counts of Attempted Murder with a $500,000 bond for each count. They are also being held on one count of Discharging a Firearm into an Unoccupied Building with a $250,000 bond. Coburn is 17 years old.
Barron said the arrests were made as a result of the work done by Troy PD’s Criminal Investigations Division, along with support from the Patrol Division, Special Operations Division and partnering agencies.
“This type of behavior will not be tolerated in Troy,” said a department spokesperson. “Our department, in cooperation with our partnering agencies and the District Attorney’s Office, remains fully committed to ensuring that Troy continues to be a safe and vibrant community for our citizens.”
The shooting occurred on North Knox Street in Troy on May 7, near the Oakwood Cemetery. Officers located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds upon arrival at the scene. Both victims were transported to Troy Regional Medical Center for treatment. One victim was later life-flighted to a hospital in Montgomery and the other was life-flighted to a hospital in Dothan.
The two victims were later identified as Dakilia J. Carlisle, 22, and Kentravious D. Smith, 27, both of Troy.
