Last week, the Goshen Eagles football team finished off spring practices with a spring game against Loachapoka in Brundidge.
The final score came to a 14-14 tie. The Eagles had the ball on the 1-yard line, leading 14-7, but a fumble led to a Loachapoka tying things up.
“I think it went pretty well,” GHS Coach Don Moore said of spring. “We have a lot of new faces out there, especially at the skill positions on offense. It’s not the typical names we’ve had the past few years.
“We feel like our offensive and defensive lines will be pretty solid and they proved that in the spring. I think after the first drive our kids settled down and started playing some pretty solid football. It was a pretty good spring for us and really productive going into the summer.”
Heading into summer workouts, Moore said his team will look to sure up some of the fundamentals of the game.
“Tackling is one of the things we have to really press and staying on our blocks longer and feeling out what we’re doing as far as an offensive standpoint,” he said. “We have a lot of kids that don’t have a whole lot of experience doing some of those things, have to get comfortable with what we’re doing. We have to get that repetition and get comfortable with everything we’re doing and gain confidence.”
