This week, Troy Mayor Jason Reeves issued a proclamation recognizing May 12-18 as National Hospital Week.
In Reeves’ proclamation, he laid out some of the good that Troy Regional Medical Center provides to the area.
“Troy Regional, a beacon of healthcare in Alabama, not only provides excellent healthcare but also significantly contributes to our community,” Reeves’ proclamation read. “They create jobs, support local businesses and sponsor numerous sports, arts and cultural events, enriching the fabric of our society.”
According to a release from Troy Regional, the hospital supports 428 jobs in Pike County and drives $73 million in local economic impact. A total of 240 individuals are directly employed by Troy Regional and 188 indirectly. The total labor impact generated by Troy Regional was $29.6 million in 2023.
Troy Regional provided care to residents through 912 inpatient stays, 34,488 outpatient visits and 14,822 emergency room visits.
“Hospitals are more than just healthcare providers; they are integral to the economic strength of our communities,” said Troy Regional CEO Rick Smith. “Our commitment extends beyond patient care—we create jobs, attract businesses and support economic growth that benefits every resident of Pike County, Alabama.”
Already this year, Troy Regional has been ranked as a Top 100 rural hospital in the country, received a 5-star rating for cleanliness and received awards for both its emergency department and Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center.
