The Pike County Salvation Army is celebrating National Salvation Army Week with sizzling sales and sweet treats in appreciation for the support that it has long received and continues to receive from the people of Pike County and beyond.

Donna Kidd, director of the local Salvation Army Service Center, said no words are adequate to express the support the service center receives and the caring spirit of the community.

“As a way to say, ‘thank you’ for the support our Service Center receives, we have almost unbelievable celebration sales throughout the week, including furniture at half price on Saturday,” Kidd said.

During National Salvation Army Week, the Pike County Salvation Army is highlighting a value that is at the very heart of the Salvation Army: Compassion.

“Compassion drives the Salvation Army to respond when our neighbors are hurting, especially families in crisis,” Kidd said. “When families are struggling to provide the basics for themselves and their families, the Salvation Army is there.”

The Salvation Army Centers also provides families in need with dignity, compassion and love.

“There is no way to say ‘thank you’ Pike County for making it possible to ‘do the most good’ for those in need here at home and others in distant places.”
