Lane Enzor was a native of Troy and attended public schools as well as Troy State Normal College. After earning his degree and completing his business education, Enzor became associated with Charles Henderson. He began his career as Henderson’s personal secretary and served in various capacities with Governor Henderson until the former governor’s death in 1937. Later that year, Enzor was appointed President of Troy Bank & Trust.

At a meeting of the stockholders of the Troy Bank & Trust Company held Thursday, J. Lane Enzor was elected to head the institution as President, succeeding the late Governor Charles Henderson, who headed the bank as President from its organization in 1906 until his death on January 7th, this year.

Other officers and directors were Key Murphree, vice president and trust officer; L. C. Powell, cashier; and J. N. Finlay, assistant cashier.

Directors are:  J. Lane Enzor, Alex Henderson, Key Murphree, L. C. Powell, M. G. Rose, and J. H. Wilkerson

Organized in 1906, the Troy Bank & Trust Company has developed into one of the strongest banking institutions in the southeastern section of Alabama.  As of February 10th of this year, deposits had topped one million dollars.  The bank is capitalized at $100,000 with a $75,000 surplus and an undivided profits account of over $35,000.  Loans and discounts have climbed to almost half a million dollars, with cash and amounts due from banks bettering half a million.  Total resources as of February 10th were $1,293,591.93.

Lane Enzor might be said to have “grown up” with the Troy Bank & Trust Company as he has been a board of directors member for a long number of years and has been intimately identified with its operation.  The selection of Mr. Enzor to head the bank as president ensures an aggressive future for this institution in the affairs of this immediate section of the State.  Key Murphree has been associated with the bank for many years as vice-president, as have Cashier L. C. Powell and Assistant Cashier J. N. Finlay.  These are all soundly-grounded banks and will carry on the progressive policies that have governed the bank’s operations, based on sound principles.  The Board of Directors selected by the bank presages continued growth for the institution, with a reasoned consideration for the banking needs of this community.
