Arrest made in Dunn Circle murder

Troy Police Chief Danny Barron said a Troy man had been arrested for the murder of Nyreesh Amari Smith.
Barron said on Saturday, May 3,, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers with the Troy Police Department responded to the 100 block of Dunn Circle regarding a report of a large crowd and loud noise.
Barron said when officers arrived on scene, multiple gunshots were heard. A male victim was found on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds, Barron said. Officers immediately began CPR until Troy Fire and EMS arrived, but despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased, Barron said..
Barron said the victim was identified as 20-year-old Nyreesh Amari Smith of Pike County. “Our thoughts and prayers remain with his family and friends during this difficult time,” Barron said.
Barron said as a result of the ongoing investigation, Troy Police have arrested Adrian Demond Moultry Jr., 22, of Troy. Moultry was processed at the Troy City Jail and subsequently transported to the Pike County Jail, where he is being held without bond, pending an Aniah’s Law hearing on the charge of Murder, Barron said.
The Troy Police Department is being assisted in this investigation by the Pike County Coroner’s Office, Pike County Sheriff’s Office and the Pike County District Attorney’s Office.
