Troy Mayor Jason A. Reeves has declared the week of May 11-17 National Nursing Home Week and has encouraged everyone in the community to visit their loved one, friend, or neighbor currently residing in a nursing care center to show respect for all they have given to society.
“Our beloved citizens of Troy that now reside in nursing home have contributed immensely to the heritage, success and growth of our community,” Reeves said. “Nursing home residents of any ages or abilities are themselves living history and a precious resource that should be treasured by all Alabamians.”
The staff and volunteers in nursing homes help residents live life to their fullest potential by providing a holistic approach to long-term care and short-term rehabilitation and member facilities of the American Health Care Association and the Alabama Nursing Home Association are sponsoring many activities in observance of National Nursing Home Week guided by this year’s national theme, “Tapestry of Life,” the mayor said.
Mother’s Day began on Sunday and continues through May 17.
Reeves encourages residents to visit or volunteer their time at a local care facility in, that doing so, is a testament to community spirit, brings honor to fathers and mothers, grandparents and everyone in a residence and lifts the spirts of caregivers who value involvement.
As mayor of the City of Troy, Reeves urges everyone in the community to visit their loved one, friend or neighbor currently residing in a nursing facility. to sow respect for all they have given to society and to all of us.
“I urge all members of this community to join in this year’s National Nursing Home Week observance by visiting our town’s nursing home residents and by recognizing the high quality of care that our long-term care facilities are providing,” Mayor Reeves said.
