Alabama gas prices fall slightly as weather warms up

As the weather warms up and the summer travel season approaches, both the state and national average for a regular gallon of gas fell slightly. 

According to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report, the nationwide average on Monday was $3.13 per gallon, down from $3.16 last Monday. In Alabama, the average price for regular gas remained well below the national average at $2.73 per gallon, but only down a penny since last Monday’s $2.74 average for the state. 

On Monday, GasBuddy.com reported prices in Troy ranging from a low of $2.65 to a high of $2.85. Prices in surrounding towns were: Ozark, $2.62 to $2.69; Luverne reported at $2.88, Union Springs reported at $2.79; Dothan ranged from $2.54 to $2.67; Montgomery ranged from $2.49 to $2.57.

Nationally, Alabama had one of the lowest averages in the nation with $2.74. Prices in contiguous states were: Mississippi, $2.63; Tennessee, $2.72; Georgia, $2.88 and Florida, $2.91.

The highest recorded average price per gallon for regular in Alabama was $4.63 on June 14, 2022.
