Southeastern Mvskoke Nation planning Creek Friends Festival

October seems a long time away.  But, it actually is somewhere in the near distance.

And the month of October is one of the busiest months of the year.

However, October is also a month that proves opportunities to enjoy wide and varied events for all ages and at very reasonable admission prices if any at all.

Last October, the Southeastern Mvskoke Nation Creek Friends Festival near Springhill attracted a large number of local residents and many came also from a long distance.’

Chief Michelle Gilmore said the Friend’s Festival was an opportunity to for people of all ages to come, learn about the Southeastern Nation and to enjoy activities and events for all ages throughout the day.

Chief Gilmore said the 2025 Southeastern Mvskoke Nation Creek Friends Festival is set for October 11 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on 242 County Road 2254, Troy.

The festival will offer opportunities to watch and enjoy native dancers, stick ball, arrowhead dig, storytelling, native artisans, drums, a nature trail walk and native artisans.

Of course, there will be lots of things to see and to eat, including fry bread, Indian tacos, roasted corn and other Native American treats.

Although, October is still months away, those who want to know more about the Southeastern Mvskoke Nation, its history, its customs and the role it plays and the contributions that are being make right here in Pike County, Alabama have a special invitation from Chief Michelle Gilmore to mark the date October 11 for the Southeastern Mvskoke Nation Creek Friends’ Festival.
