On Thursday, Quentavian “Que” Carter signed his letter-of-intent to play college football at Lane College in Tennessee.
Carter earned All-Messenger honors as a senior linebacker this season at Pike County, tallying 65 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss and four sacks. Carter said he will play a hybrid linebacker/defensive back in college.
“I just liked the way the coaches work their program there,” Carter said of his decision. “I knew the coach because I had met him before and I just felt like Lane was the place for me.”
Carter said the recruiting process was long and frustrating at times but signing to play college football was fulfilling a dream for himself.
“It means everything to me,” Carter said with a smile. “This is always what I wanted to do, to play football at the next level, and maybe one day go to the NFL.”
Carter said that while the NFL would be the ultimate goal for him, he’s already planning for life after his playing days.
“I want to go to college and study physical education, so I can be a coach after I graduate,” he emphasized. “If I have a chance to play in the NFL, though, I will definitely take it.”
