Troy University Chief Technology and Security Officer Greg Price has been named one of the nation’s top technology professionals by the Oncon Icon Awards.

This the second consecutive year that Price has placed among the Top 10 Technology Professionals of the Year, a distinction awarded through peer and industry leader voting and recognizing innovation, leadership and impact in the field of technology.

“To be honored again in a field that includes global CIOs, CTOs, and technology executives from Fortune 500 companies is humbling,” Price said. “The level of innovation and competition among this year’s honorees was extraordinary. It’s a privilege to represent Troy University and show that impactful technology leadership happens here, too.”

The Oncon Icon Award highlights the top 100 technology executives globally and the Top 10 are chosen from a highly competitive field of finalists. This year’s honorees represented some of the most influential technology leaders from companies such as Citi, Intel, Mastercard, JP Morgan Chase, WalMart, American Airlines, Dell, Hewlett Packard and more.

Price was also recently recognized for his public service, earning a statewide award from the Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB) for his longtime leadership as a member of the Pike County Board of Education. He was named to the AASB’s All-State School Board in 2024, one of the association’s highest honors. Price also published his latest book, Thriving Under Threat: A Practical Guide to Cyber Defense, this year.

Price has served at Troy University for nearly three decades, leading initiatives in enterprise IT, infrastructure modernization and cybersecurity innovation. Under his leadership, Troy University has earned national recognition for its cybersecurity operations, including being named the top university security team in the U.S. by SecureWorld.

Price also serves on cybersecurity advisory boards for IBM and Fortinet, founded the Alabama Digital Forensics Institute and launched a nationally recognized child safety initiative.
