TPD investigating North Knox Street shooting; two injured

On Wednesday, May 7, Troy Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of North Knox Street in Troy and two individuals remain in critical condition following the shooting.
TPD received reports of shots fired at approximately 1:13 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Troy Police Chief Danny Barron. The shooting occurred on North Knox Street, near Oakwood Cemetery. Officers located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds upon arrival at the scene. Both victims were transported to Troy Regional Medical Center for treatment.
One victim was later life-flighted to a hospital in Montgomery and the other was life-flighted to a hospital in Dothan. Both individuals remain in critical condition. TPD detectives are actively following up on leads and investigating the shooting and are being assisted by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and Pike County District Attorney’s Office in the investigation.
The Wednesday shooting is one of multiple shootings that have occurred in Troy over the past week. On May 3, a 20-year-old was shot and killed at a party in Troy and another shooting that occurred on May 4 behind apartments near the campus of Troy University led to multiple vehicles being shot.
