Southern Counseling Group, a leading mental health area provider, has opened a new location in Troy and has also added a Pike County native to the team.

Southern Counseling Group aims to provide “compassionate and professional counseling services.” The Troy location offers a wide range of mental health services, including individual therapy, couples counseling, family therapy and group therapy.

Southern Counseling Group said the location in Troy was selected to “serve the local community better and to make mental health services accessible for those in need.” The expansion to Troy is part of Southern Counseling Group’s commitment to support mental wellness in rural Alabama.

Southern Counseling Group has also brought Riley Ramage onto the team at the Troy location, a licensed therapist with ties to the community. Ramage was born and raised in Brundidge and is a graduate of Pike Liberal Arts School. She went on to graduate from Troy University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

“I’m excited to be joining Southern Counseling Group and returning to Troy to serve the people here,” said Riley Ramage. “I’ve seen firsthand the importance of having accessible, professional mental health support, and I look forward to helping individuals and families in Troy navigate their personal journeys to wellness.”

Ramage did her practicum at Oz Therapy in Ozark for four months, learning to test for autism spectrum disorder. She also interned with Southern Counseling Group. After earning her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2024 she also began taking classes for certification in infant mental health counseling, which she will complete in July 2025.

“We are thrilled to bring our services to Troy,” said Emma Cosby, founder of Southern Counseling Group. “Mental health is an essential part of overall well-being, impacting an individual’s health, job performance, and overall quality of life. “I am from Uniontown, Alabama, so providing services within rural areas has always been a passion of mine. Our mission is to ensure that residents in small communities do not have to travel far from home to receive expert care.

“We’re very excited to expand our reach and believe Riley Ramage will be an incredible addition to our team, as her expertise and connection to the community will help us make an even greater impact.
