The Charles Henderson Trojans will begin the Phillip Jones era of CHHS Football on Aug. 15 with the annual Meet the Trojans event at Veterans Memorial Stadium. 

CHHS enters year one under Jones, coming off a season where the Trojans finished 0-9 after five wins were vacated due to AHSAA violations. Charles Henderson will open up the regulaR season with a long four-game road stretch, starting on Aug. 22 at Chelsea in a first-time ever matchup. Chelsea is a Class 6A school that went 6-5 last season. 

In week two, Charles Henderson travels to Class 2A’s Highland Home on Aug. 29 looking to avenge last season’s 24-0 loss to the Flying Squadron. On Sept. 5, CHHS starts Class 5A, Region 2 play at Greenville and then closes out that brutal road stretch on Sept. 12 at Carroll in another region game. 

Charles Henderson then gets to spend the next two weeks in the friendly confines of Veterans Memorial Stadium, starting against Montgomery-Catholic in another region game on Sept. 19 before hosting Benjamin Russell in a non-region game on Sept. 26. The Trojans lost 29-0 against Benjamin Russell last season. 

CHHS returns to the road for one last time during the regular season for a region contest against Andalusia on Oct. 3 and then returns home for Homecoming against Headland in a region clash on Oct. 17. The Trojans wrap up region play against Eufaula at home on Oct. 23 and face off against Class 6A’s Pike Road for Senior Night on Oct. 30 in the regular season finale. CHHS lost 50-35 to Pike Road last season. 

Charles Henderson will play Russell County in the annual spring football game at 7 p.m. this Friday, May 9.
