The Troy Trojans landed a pair of commitments from the transfer portal on Monday in former Grambling tight end Marquis Harris and former Bethune-Cookman running back Dennis Palmer Jr.
Palmer is a 5-foot-10-inch, 200-pound Jensen Beach, Fla., native that rushed for more than 5,000 yards and 60 touchdowns at Jensen Beach High School. As a junior in high school, Palmer rushed or 1,640 yards along with catching 48 passes for 506 yards. He also rushed for 1,001 yards and 13 touchdowns in just 10 games as a senior.
Palmer started his college career at Bethune-Cookman, tallying 706 yards and five touchdowns on 159 carries in just nine games as a freshman in 2024. He rushed for 178 yards and three touchdowns on 37 carries in the season finale for Bethune-Cookman and was named All-SWAC Second-Team. Palmer will come to Troy with three years of eligibility remaining.
Harris is a 6-foot-5-inch, 249-pound Shreveport, La., native. Harris caught 24 passes for 410 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior at Bossier High School in Louisiana. Harris started his career at Arkansas State as a receiver. He then transferred to Grambling State and transitioned to tight end, where he caught seven passes for 183 yards and a touchdown last season. Harris will come to Troy with three years of eligibility remaining. Harris held offers from schools like South Alabama, Tennessee State, Alabama A&M, Texas Southern and Arkansas Pine Bluff.
The additions of Harris and Palmer are filling positions of need after All-Sun Belt running back Damien Taylor and tight end Brody Dalton both departed Troy for SEC destinations after the spring. Troy also lost running back Jamontez Woods to the transfer portal following the spring. Troy also added a commitment from former Mississippi State lineman Malik Ellis last week.
So far this offseason, Troy has added former Georgia receiver RaRa Thomas, Georgia Tech offensive lineman Patrick Screws Jr., Georgia Tech running back Trey Cooley, Tennessee offensive lineman Vysen Lang, Appalachian State offensive lineman Garner Langlo, Georgia safety David Daniel-Sisvanah, Vanderbilt safety Steven Sannieniola, South Carolina defensive end Elijah Davis, Ellis, Harris and Palmer from the transfer portal.
