Pike Lib, Zion Chapel to meet in Regional Finals

The Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots (19-15) and Zion Chapel Lady Rebels (17-14) will face off in the Class 2A South Regional Softball Finals on Tuesday in Gulf Shores.
The game will be a rematch of the Area Finals between the two schools, which Pike ultimately won. After both teams won their first round games on Monday, Pike defeated Washington County by a score of 8-4 in the regional semifinals. Alissa Barron led Pike at the plate and in the circle as she collected three hits and also pitched all seven innings with seven strikeouts. She gave up seven hits but no earned runs, as well.
Shelly Stephens, Julianne Meyer, Madison Nelson and Sarah Strickland drove in one run each, while Camryn Brown, Haylie Brown, Allie Booth, Meyer and Nelson scored one run. Mary Holland Stephens also scored two runs.
Zion Chapel throttled JU Blacksher in the other semifinal game by a score of 15-3. Kaylee Hodge went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run for Zion Chapel, while Landry Hataway went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and one run. Shea Wambles scored two runs and Riley Bannin drove in one run and scored two runs. Emily Rhodes went 2-for-4 with two RBIS and two runs.
Karli Kidd and Alyssa Forehand scored two runs, while KB Holley drove in two runs and scored two runs. Bannin pitched four and 2/3 innings and struck out four batters, while giving up four hits and no earned runs.
Also in the 2A Elimination Bracket, the Ariton Lady Purple Cats (28-19-2) topped Cottonwood by a score of 8-1. Nya Allen went 3-for-4 with a double and a run, while Molly Snell went 2-for-4. Lizzy Faircloth drove in two runs and scored two runs.
Beth Dixon went 2-for-5 at the plate with a double, an RBI and two runs. She also pitched all five innings and struck out three batters, while giving up one hit and no earned runs.
Ariton plays JU Blacksher in the quarterfinals of the elimination bracket today. The winner of that game will play the winner of GW Long vs. Washington County in the semifinals. Whoever wins that semifinal matchup will face off against the loser of the Pike Lib vs. Zion Chapel game in the elimination bracket finals. The winner of the winner’s bracket and elimination bracket will both advance to the Class 2A State Tournament.
The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans saw their 2025 season come to a close with a 18-1 loss to Headland in the Class 5A Regional Elimination Bracket. Charles Henderson’s season ends with a 9-26 record.
