On April 30, the field for the upcoming NCAA Regional Men’s Golf Tournament was revealed and the Troy Trojans made the cut.
It will be the first time that Troy will compete at regionals since 2017. Troy will enter the tournament as the No. 9 seed and play at Atkins Golf Club in Urbana, Ill. Troy enters regionals as the No. 51-ranked team in the country, having won two events during the season. Troy is led by All-Sun Belt selections Nick Fowlkes, Brantley Scott and Jake Springer. Scott and Springer both earned First-Team All-Conference honors, while Fowlkes earned a Third-Team nod.
“I am super excited for the guys,” head coach Clay Bounds said. “We knew we were going somewhere, but finally knowing where is a good feeling. This team has worked hard all year; we’re going to continue that work at Regionals, and if everything goes our way, make it to the NCAA Championship.”
Following the season, Bounds was named the Sun Belt Coach of the Year, becoming the first Trojan coach to earn that honor in school history. Troy set a program record with a 286.79 stroke average this season and a 0.24 score vs. par.
The top five teams and top individual not on a qualifying team will move on to the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carslabdn, Calif. Regional play begins May 12 through May 14.
