Both the Charles Henderson Trojans and Lady Trojans soccer teams were in playoff action this week.

The boys team (10-1-6) defeated Andalusia by a score of 2-0 in the second round. Daniel Frigge and Robert Lindsey each scored one goal for the Trojans, while Jayden Hall tallied eight saves at goal keeper.

The Trojans will hit the road on Friday to face off against Faith Academy in the Class 5A Quarterfinals at 7 p.m.

On Monday, the girls team lost 2-1 in double overtime against Carroll in a hard-fought defeat. The score was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation with Reece Garrett scoring the lone Lady Trojan goal. CHHS led all the way until the five minute mark when Carroll managed to tie things up off a corner kick.

The two sides remained tied through two overtimes, sending the game into penalty kicks to decide the win. Carroll won the penalty kicks 3-2 to move on to the quarterfinals. Garrett and Sinai Sanchez each connected on penalty kicks for the Lady Trojans.

“It was a great season for our girls and we have set a precedent of what we want to accomplish year over year,” CHHS Coach Josh Wildermuth said. “We thank our seniors for their effort and support this year and to help build this program the past two years. Our program is very young but on a great path with a ton of young talent that has great potential for continued success.”
