Troy municipal election qualifying begins June 10

The summer of 2025 is election season in Troy as all municipal offices are up for election. 

The Troy Mayor and all five Troy City Council spots will be up for election, with qualifications beginning on June 10. Those that wish to run may qualify through June 24 at 5 p.m. After that, general elections will be on Aug. 26. 

Potential candidates must file a declaration of candidacy with the city along with a $50 qualification fee by June 24 at 5 p.m. Qualification fees must be paid to the Troy city clerk and deposited in the general fund of the city at or prior to the time of taking out qualification papers by any candidate. 

The City of Troy held the first reading of its redistricting plan at the last city council meeting and will hold a second reading, public hearing and potential vote to accept or reject the plan at the May 6 meeting at noon at Troy City Hall. All voters will be notified via mail what voting precinct they belong to prior to the election. 

Troy Mayor Jason Reeves won his third term in office during the 2020 election, winning 74 percent of the vote. Troy City Council’s members include Sharon McSwain-Holland (District 1), Greg Meeks (District 2), Max Davis (District 3), Stephanie Baker (District 4) and Wanda Howard Moultry (District 5).
