Traffic shift planned for U.S. 231 access management project in Troy

This weekend, the contractor handling the U.S. Highway 231 project in Troy will shift the center lane closure, weather permitting.

Currently, the center lane on U.S. 231 is closed from State Route 87 to First Street. Once work is complete in that area, the center lane will be reopened and the center lane from First Street to George Wallace Drive will be closed.

Motorists are advised to plan accordingly for delays and to be mindful of people and equipment in the work zone.

The access management project began in November of 2024 and the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) says it remains on track to be completed this summer. Once complete, the corridor’s traffic efficient and safety will increase, according to ALDOT.
