Brookins held a .500 batting average in Pike Lib’s four wins this week as the Patriots swept their way through the first two rounds of the playoffs. Brookins collected a double, a triple, five RBIs and four runs. On the mound, Brookins pitched a total of 12 innings and struck out 18 batters, while giving up just seven total hits and five earned runs. In Pike’s game one win over Geneva County in the first round, Brookins struck out 15 batters.

After making history last week by becoming the first Pike tennis athlete to qualify for the AHSAA State Tournament, Vargas continued to make history this week by becoming the first PLAS athlete to make the State Tennis Championship. Vargas swept her way through the tournament before eventually falling in two sets in the State Championship Match to earn state runner-up.
