Former Trojan Brandon Silvers returning to the field

This week, the St. Louis Battlehawks of the United Football League (UFL) signed former Troy star Brandon Silvers to their roster. 

Silvers was a backup quarterback for the Battlehawks last season and led the Houston Roughnecks to the XFL Playoffs in 2023. In 2023, he completed 156-of-262 passes for 1,551 yards and 13 touchdowns with nine interceptions. He also played for the Seattle Dragons in the XFL in 2020 and the Memphis Express in the AAF in 2019. 

Silvers, a Gulf Shores native, was an All-Sun Belt quarterback at Troy. In 2014, he set the NCAA  record for highest completion percentage for a freshman quarterback. He earned All-Sun Belt honors in 2015, 2016 and 2017. During his Trojan career, he completed 64 percent of his passes with 10,449 yards and 69 touchdowns. He also scored 16 rushing touchdowns. His passing yardage is second in Troy history his touchdowns are third in school history. 

Silvers and the Battlehawks will play the Michigan Panthers on April 26 at 6 p.m. in a game that will air live on ESPN.
