At the April 21, Troy City Schools Board of Education Meeting a bid was approved for two re-roofing projects in the school system.
The bid was for the re-roofing of the main building at Troy Elementary School and the band room at Charles Henderson High School. The project will be done during the summer and is funded through the Education Trust Fund.
The board also approved an emergency declaration for the replacement of an air conditioning unit at the Troy City Schools Central Office. The unit that cools the back offices in the building went out and needs to be replaced.
A request for an out-of-state trip for the Charles Henderson High School Marching Band to the Drum Corps International Competition in Atlanta, Ga., was also approved. The trip will occur on July 26 and will cost $75 per student with funding coming from the CHHS Band Boosters.
A requisition for an out-of-state trip for Troy Elementary School’s Talented and Gifted (TAG) students was also approved. This trip will be to Escapology in Columbus, Ga., on May 9 so that TAG students can put their problem-solving skills to the test. The reason the trip is to the Escapology in Georgia, rather than the one in Montgomery, is because there is a Sky Zone Trampoline Park next to it. Half of the students will take part in the escape rooms, while the other half jumps at Sky Zone and then they will swap. The trip is paid for through the Gifted Budget the school receives from the Alabama Department of Education.
The board also unanimously approved the following personnel actions.
