Olivia Gregory earns first place in Farm City essay contest

- Oliva Gregory of Pike County was honored for earning first place in the Alabama Farm-City Seventh-Ninth Grade Essay Contest April 17 during an annual awards luncheon in Auburn. Gregory is a student at Pike Liberal Arts School. They received $300 from Alabama Ag in the Classroom (AITC) for their essay, which showcased the theme of “Our Community Counts on Farmers.” From left are Alabama Farm-City Committee Chair Jeff Helms, Gregory and Alabama AITC Steering Committee Chair Kim Earwood.

Olivia’s essay impressed judges with its creativity, clarity, and deep understanding of the year’s theme, “Our Community Counts on Farmers”.
“We are so proud of Olivia and the way she represented Pike Liberal Arts, Pike County, and our community,” said Abby Peters, Pike County Extension Director and Pike County Farm-City Chairperson. “Her dedication to excellence and her ability to communicate the value of Alabama’s farming community truly set her essay apart.”
