This week, Troy University Senior Association Athletics Director and Chief Health Care Administrator Alyson Gramley was selected for induction into the Alabama Athletic Trainers Association (ALATA) Hall of Fame.

Gramley has been serving in her current role at the university since 2021 but has been with Troy since 2001. Gramley is a graduate of Troy University, earning a bachelor’s degree in athletic training 1999 and a master’s degree in education in 2004. She also taught school at both Pike Liberal Arts School in Troy and Dixie Academy in Louisville.

Gramley began her time on staff at Troy as a graduate assistant in the athletic training department in 2001 and then became an athletic trainer for the volleyball team in 2005 until 2007 when she moved on to be an athletic trainer for the football program in 2008. She also worked with the men’s basketball program for more than a decade.

In the 2006-2007 academic year, Gramley was assigned to the Alabama Sports Medicine Outreach Program, a joint-program between Troy and Dr. James Andrews’ orthopedic group designed to assist area high schools. In addition to her current roles at Troy, Gramley coordinates all of Troy’s orthopedic clinic visits with the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedics Center and also developed Troy’s Mental Health Best Practice Plan and Emergency Action Plan. She is also responsible for revamping Troy’s student-athlete drug testing policy and enhancing the university’s collaborative efforts with local physicians.

Gramley serves as the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) District Nine Representative on the Professional Responsibility in Athletic Training Committee, Southeast Alabama Trainers’ Association (SEATA) Honors and Awards Committee and is the chair of the ALATA Hall of Fame Committee.

She has also previously served on the Executive Council of the ALATA and chaired the Collegiate Committee and Scholarship and Awards Committed. She was selected as the ALATA College and University Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2018.

Gramley will be inducted into the ALATA Hall of Fame at a ceremony this summer.
