Kimber moved its manufacturing plant from the State of New York before moving the corporate headquarters. It pledged a $38 million investment to the City of Troy when originally moving. Kimber manufactures a number of firearms at its more than 80 acre, 225,000 square-foot facility in Troy. This includes the production of its popular 1911 Pistols.

“I’m so thrilled this great American company is now an Alabama company, too,” Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said at the ribbon cutting of the headquarters in Troy. “Let’s be honest, a renowned firearms manufacturer does not belong in New York, it belongs here in Alabama.

“Today is just another example of how we have leveraged our state, local and private partnerships to create a nation leading business environment where companies like Kimber Manufacturing know they can succeed.”

Kimber employs more than 400 people at its Troy facility, with more than 300 of those being Troy natives.

“Since coming to Troy, we have met many goals far sooner than expected,” Kimber CEO and owner Leslie Edelman said at the headquarters’ ribbon cutting. “One such example is our employee headcount, which has exceeded (the expectations) by 29 percent.  “Kimber now has 475 people here in this building. This is just one example of Kimber surpassing expectations and a testament to our commitment to bolster not only Kimber as a company but strengthen the positive economic influence Kimber has on Troy.”

“Alabama, and Pike County specifically, have always been supportive of military/firearm manufacturing historically,” Kimber Director of Marketing Everett Deger said. “The state and city made an effort to support Kimber and we have created a mutually beneficial relationship.”
