Troy’s Brooks Bryan named to Buster Posey Award Watch List

On Thursday, April 17, Troy University junior Brooks Bryan was named to the the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award midseason watch list.
Bryan set Troy’s single season RBI record in 2024 and currently leads the Sun Belt with 45 RBIs this season. The Opelika native holds a .279 batting average with nine doubles and seven home runs.
Behind the plate, Brooks has caught five runners trying to steal with a .996 fielding percentage, 238 putouts, 20 assists and two double plays. He has just one error this season on 259 total chances in the field.
“We are glad that Brooks continues to receive well deserved award recognition,” Troy head coach Skylar Meade said. “He is one of the top players in college baseball, and there are few players nationally more humble in having this type of attention.”
D1Baseball has ranked Bryan the No. 3 catcher in the country this season and the No. 45 overall player on D1Baseball’s Top 100 Collegiate MLB Draft prospects. Along with earning First-Team All-Sun Belt honors last season, Bryan was a member of the ABCA/Rawlings All-Southeast Region and was a semifinalist for both the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy. He was also a member of the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.
