High School Softball: Pike Lib rallies to beat Lee-Scott Academy

On April 15, the Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots (14-12) came from behind to beat Lee-Scott Academy by a score of 6-5.
PLAS trailed 4-1 going into the seventh inning but Mary Holland Stephens and Julianne Meyer both scored on a throwing error to cut the Lee-Scott lead to 4-3. Next, Sarah Strickland belted an RBI double that drove in both Maddison Nelson and Allie Booth to put the Patriots up 5-4.
Strickland tacked on another run on a throwing error and Pike led 6-4 going into the bottom of the seventh. Lee-Scott managed one run, facing one out, but then Meyer and Strickland combined for a double play to finish off the Lady Pat win.
Meyer and Strickland both hit a double, while Strickland drove in two runs and Booth scored two runs. Mary Holland Stephens pitched all seven innings and fanned one batter, while giving up 14 hits and three earned runs.
The Pike County Lady Bulldogs (5-18) beat Russell County by a score of 10-2. Leah Dixon went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run, while pitching seven innings and giving up eight hits and two earned runs with seven strikeouts.
Abigail Griffin went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs, one run and four stolen bases. Paloma Munoz went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, two runs and two stolen bases.
The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans (7-19) also lost to Kinston by a score of 15-0. Ava Stone hit a double, the lone CHHS hit of the day. Katy Lynn Lee pitched two innings.
For Kinston, Allyx Williamson went 2-for-2 with a triple, five RBIs and two runs. Camdyn Norris went 2-for-2 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs. Lauren Norris went 3-for-3 with three runs and drove in another run, while pitching three innings with six strikeouts. She gave up one hit and no runs.
The Ariton Lady Purple Cats (20-15-2) beat Luverne by a score of 9-4 on April 15. Nya Allen went 2-for-4 with three runs and two stolen bases. Macileigh Bragg hit a home run and scored three runs. Lizzy Faircloth went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run along with driving in four runs. Beth Dixon pitched all seven innings and fanned six batters, while giving up seven hits and no earned runs.
