Charles Henderson earns Monday win over Chilton County

The Charles Henderson Trojans (20-13) earned a 14-10 win over the Chilton County Tigers on Monday, April 14. 

Chilton County took a 5-0 lead into the fourth inning when the Trojans scored seven runs to jump out to a 7-5 lead. CHHS extended the lead to 10-5 in the sixth inning and went up 14-5 in the top of the seventh. In the bottom of the final inning, the Tigers tried to rally but could only manage five runs. 

Chase Vaznaian led CHHS at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple, one RBI and two runs, while Wes Templin drove in three runs and scored two runs. Kellen Stewart also went 2-for-3 and Clay Johnson drove in two runs and stole two bases, while Cole Pugh scored two runs.

Dylan Westberg pitched one and 1/3 innings and struck out a pair of batters, while giving up two hits and no earned runs. Trenton Bryan also struck out two and gave up four hits and no earned runs in one and 1/3 innings of work. Wes Templin spent one and 1/3 innings on the mound and struck out a batter along with giving up four hits and three earned runs.

Charles Henderson will play at St. Paul’s Episcopal in Mobile in the first round of the Class 5A State Playoffs this Friday in a doubleheader.
