High School Softball: Pike Lib tops Luverne, Zion Chapel beats Goshen

Both the Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots and Zion Chapel Lady Rebels earned Class 2A, Area 4 wins on Thursday, April 10.
The Lady Patriots (12-11) beat the Luverne Lady Tigers by a score of 14-7. Camryn Brown went 3-for-3 at the plate for PLAS with three doubles, two RBIs and three runs, while Allie Booth went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs. Sarah Strickland scored two runs and hit a triple, while Haylie Brown drove in three runs and scored two. Riley Burkett also scored two runs. Mary Holland Stephens struck out two batters and gave up five hits and three earned runs in seven innings pitched.
The Lady Rebels (11-10) also beat Goshen by a score of 17-0 on Thursday. Karli Kidd hit a home run for ZCHS, while Shea Wambles stole three bases and scored three runs. Kaylee Hodge and Emily Rhodes scored two runs each. Sydney Boothe went 2-for-2 at the plate with two doubles, an RBI and two runs. Riley Bannin pitched two innings and struck out six batters, while giving up no hits or runs.
For Goshen, Kenna Senn struck out two batters in two innings in the circle.
The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans (7-16) were swept in a doubleheader on Thursday by Dale County and Pike Road. CHHS lost 18-1 to Pike Road. Camille Lewis scored the lone Lady Trojan run, while Katy Lynn Lee pitched three innings.
In game two, Dale County shutout CHHS by a score of 10-0. Calleigh Compton hit a double. Janazia Cantlow pitched three innings and struck out two batters, while giving up seven hits and five earned runs.
The Pike County Lady Bulldogs (3-18) lost by a score of 8-6 to Autauga Academy on Thursday. Abigail Griffin went 2-for-4 with two runs, while Hailey Griffin hit a home run and scored two runs. Emmya Moultry went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Taylor Trawick pitched seven innings and struck out six batters, while giving up 10 hits and six earned runs.
