The long lonesome sound of bluegrass music will be heard in the sleepy little community of Henderson this weekend

The Henderson Bluegrass Festival is held annually in memory of and love for “Ol’ Rex” Locklar, who “got the bluegrass festival started and kept it going for 45 years.

A long stretch of the Henderson Highway is named in memory of Locklar.

The 2025 Henderson Bluegrass Festival will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

There will be no charge on Friday and Saturday with a small setup fee for campers.

Music will be played throughout the grounds during the day and in the music pavilion at dusk and dark.

Everyone is invited to the community where bluegrass grows.

The festival’s motto, is if you pick and sing, just grin.
