Donna Kidd, director of the Pike County Salvation Army Service Center, said, to be successful, the annual Pike County Empty Bowls Luncheon requires a village of caring and supportive businesses and individuals.
Hunger is not confined to those in distant lands, Kidd said. “Here in Pike County, we have hearts for the many who are actually hungry and in need of nourishment. The annual Empty Bowls Luncheon helps meet those needs.”
Kidd said every dollar and every dime helps curb hunger.
“The Pike County Salvation Army Service thanks our Gold sponsors, Torah Clubs of Troy and Woodmen Life Chapter 420 and our Bronze sponsors, Express Oil Change, South Alabama Electric, South Alabama Electric, and Organized Community Action.”
The local Salvation Army Service Center also thanks its patrons, Ginny Hamm, Witherington Insurance Group, Industrial Component Sales, Cindy Hinton, Half Shell, Thomas, Cindy Wright, and Tommy and Kathy Wright and our friends at Home Gallery for sponsoring us this year, Kidd said.
“We can’t say thank you enough to everyone who donated handmade items and items from their businesses” Kidd said. “And, of course, Bush Baptist Church for blessing us with the use of their Family Life Center. We had many of our Advisory Board members, Civic Engagement and Trojan Ambassadors donate their time and resources. We are so thankful for everyone that worked so hard to make this year’s event a success. We are looking forward to another great year in 20206.
