Ariton hosts Lady Purple Cat Softball Tournament

The Ariton Lady Purple Cats hosted its Purple Cat Softball Tournament this weekend and went 1-2 on the weekend.
Ariton (16-12-2) started the tournament off with a 14-3 win over New Brockton on April 4. Macileigh Bragg went 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and one two runs. Nya Allen scored three runs and Lizzy Faircloth hit a home run and scored two runs. Faircloth also pitched four innings and struck out six batters, while giving up five hits and three earned runs.
Ariton followed that up with a 9-2 loss to Kinston later in the day. Allen and Bragg scored one run each. Beth Dixon pitched two and 1/3 innings and struck out a batter, while giving up eight hits and five earned runs. Madolyn Hudson gave up one hit and no earned runs in one and 2/3 innings.
Ariton wrapped up tournament play with a 5-0 loss to Straughn on April 5. Dixon pitched three innings and struck out two batters, while giving up seven hits and three earned runs. Faircloth earned one strikeout along with giving up two hits and no earned runs in two innings in the circle.
Andalusia won the tournament championship over Straughn.
