Alabama remains well below national average for gas prices

The national average price of regular gasoline rose 9-cents per gallon over the last week.
According to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report, the national average on Monday was $3.25 per gallon, up from $3.16 last Monday. In Alabama, the average price for regular gas was well below the national average at $2.86 per gallon, but still rose 9-cents from last Monday’s $2.77 average for the state.
On Monday, GasBuddy.com reported prices in Troy ranging from a low of $2.74 to a high of $2.83. Prices in surrounding towns were: Ozark, $2.74 to $2.79; Luverne had one station reporting at $2.89, Union Springs reported in at $2.89; Dothan ranged from $2.64 to $2.76; Montgomery ranged from $2.51 to $2.63.
Last Monday, GasBuddy.com reported prices in Troy ranging from a low of $2.74 to a high of $2.85. Prices in surrounding towns were: Ozark, $2.78 to $2.83; Luverne had no reported prices, Union Springs reported in at $2.79; Dothan ranged from $2.48 to $2.69; Montgomery ranged from $2.66 to $2.71.
Nationally, Alabama had one of the lowest averages in the nation with $2.86. Prices in contiguous states were: Mississippi, $2.75; Tennessee, $2.79; Georgia, $3.04 and Florida, $3.17.
The highest recorded average price per gallon for regular in Alabama was $4.63 on June 14, 2022.
