High School Softball: Charles Henderson wins two straight; Zion Chapel bests Pike Lib

On Thursday, the Charles Henderson Lady Trojans (6-13) won their second straight game with a 12-1 win over the Greenville Lady Tigers in Class 5A, Area 3.
Calleigh Compton went 2-for-4 at the plate for CHHS with a home run, a double, four RBIs and two runs. Keirstin Gamble went 2-for-2 with a double, four RBIs and one run. Jada Jones also went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Camille Lewis pitched five innings and fanned five batters, while giving up three hits and no earned runs. Compton tallied six putouts with no errors on defense.
Charles Henderson also earned an 11-7 win over LAMP on April 2. Janazia Cantlow went 3-for-4 with a triple, one double and four RBIs, while Compton went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Jones went 2-for-4 with a double and a run, while Gamble hit a triple and scored two runs. Katy Lynn Lee pitched two innings and struck out three, while giving up three hits and two earned runs. Cantlow also pitched five innings and mowed down eight batters, while giving up eight hits and five earned runs. Compton tallied 13 putouts with no errors.
The Zion Chapel Lady Rebels (9-9) moved to .500 on the season with a 4-2 win over the Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots (10-11) in a Class 2A, Area 4 contest on April 3. Zion Chapel jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first two innings. Pike scored two runs in the fourth but couldn’t get any closer.
Shea Wambles went 2-for-4 at the plate for ZCHS with an RBI and a run, while Riley Bannin, Emily Rhodes and Hagen Sessions scored one run each. Sydney Boothe pitched seven innings and struck out five batters, while giving up six hits and one earned run. Kaylee Hodge earned six putouts with no errors on defense.
For Pike Lib, Allie Booth went 2-for-4 with a double, while Sarah Strickland went 2-for-3. Alissa Barron and Julianne Meyer scored one run each. Barron also stole two bases. Mary Holland Stephens pitched four innings and gave up three hits and no earned runs. Yaley McLendon also pitched two innings and struck out a batter, while giving up two hits and three earned runs.
The Ariton Lady Purple Cats (15-10-2) lost 10-2 to GW Long on Thursday. Nya Allen went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and one RBI, while Beth Dixon scored one run. Lizzy Faircloth pitched one inning and gave up four hits and four earned runs. Dixon also pitched five innings and struck out five, while giving up seven hits and five earned runs.
Ariton defeated Abbeville by a score of 18-1 on April 2. Madolyn Hudson went 2-for-2 with an RBI and three runs, while Natalee Beltran went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs. Dixon, Allen, Macileigh Bragg, Faircloth, Laney Deloney and Briana Achaua scored two runs each. Dixon, Faircloth and Hudson pitched one inning each and combined for seven strikeouts and no earned runs given up.
The Pike County Lady Bulldogs (2-16) lost 10-0 to Opp on April 3.
