Empty Bowls luncheon Friday at Bush Baptist Church

- Silent auction bid items include autographed basketballs by the men and women’s coaches at Troy University, Auburn and the University of Tennessee and handmade items by Don Dickert, Forrest Lee and artwork by local artists.
Already, at the Pike County Salvation Army, local restaurants and a host of volunteers are stirring pots of the best soup ever for the Pike County Salvation Army’s annual Empty Bowls fundraiser TODAY from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Bush Baptist Church on George Wallace Drive. Tickets are $20.
The Empty Bowls Luncheon will support the local Salvation Army’s food pantry and special and emergency needs.
The luncheon offers “empty” handmade bowls to ticket holders as reminders of the thousands of people who go bed hungry each night.
There will also be bid items and the fellowship of friends and neighbors.
