No. 20 Troy run rules Florida A&M in midweek clash

The No. 20-ranked Troy Trojans (22-8) earned a 13-3 win over the Florida A&M Rattlers (14-12) in seven innings at home on Wednesday, April 2.
It was Troy’s second win over the Rattlers this season, after coming from behind to win 10-8 on March 26. Troy jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings and never looked back. Troy held a 10-3 lead going into the seventh inning and the Trojans scored three more runs before the game was called due to the run-rule.
Steven Meier led Troy at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a home run, four RBIs and three runs, while Jimmy Janicki went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and one run. Sean Darnell went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, while Brooks Bryan hit a double and scored two runs. Gavin Schrader scored four runs.
Dylan King (1-0) was the winning pitcher, striking out five batters and giving up one hit and one earned run in two innings on the mound. Troy native Drew Nelson also pitched two and 2/3 innings, striking out four batters and giving up two hits and two earned runs. Blake Cavill earned five putouts and a double play with no errors.
The Trojans return their focus back to Sun Belt Conference play this weekend on the road at Old Dominion April 4-6. All three games will stream on ESPN+.
